Lucinity has appointed Jakob Jónasson as Vice President of Engineering, bringing more than two decades of experience in scaling software platforms and engineering teams.
Reykjavik, Iceland, March 11th, 2025 - Lucinity has appointed Jakob Jónasson as Vice President of Engineering. In this role, he will lead the company’s engineering organization and oversee the development of Lucinity’s platform, focusing on scalable architecture, engineering efficiency, and high-quality software delivery.
Jónasson brings more than 20 years of experience in software development and engineering leadership. Prior to joining Lucinity, he spent nearly a decade at Tempo Software, where he progressed from team lead to Senior Director of Engineering. During that time, he helped scale the platform to support more than 30,000 organizations worldwide. His work included delivering major product capabilities such as a cross-platform mobile application and integrations, as well as leading infrastructure improvements that increased scalability while reducing cloud costs.

At Lucinity, Jónasson will focus on strengthening engineering processes and platform scalability as the company continues expanding its Agentic AML Services. His priorities include identifying inefficiencies, improving development practices, and enabling engineering teams to move faster while maintaining high standards of quality. This work supports Lucinity’s vision of helping financial institutions investigate financial crime faster and with greater accuracy.
Financial institutions are facing growing pressure to detect increasingly complex financial crime while managing rising investigation volumes and regulatory requirements. Advances in AI are creating new opportunities to automate investigative work and improve how compliance teams analyze risk. Building scalable, reliable platforms that combine strong engineering foundations has become a key priority for technology providers in this space.
“In our industry, time is a very valuable resource, so working on the right things becomes increasingly important,” said Jakob Jónasson, VP of Engineering at Lucinity. “What attracted me to Lucinity is the opportunity to work on ambitious technology and help build systems that allow teams to move fast while maintaining high quality.”
“Jakob has extensive experience scaling engineering teams and platforms to support global products,” said Daniel Pálmason, CEO of Lucinity. “He has built systems that handle large volumes of customers and complex integrations. That experience is highly relevant as we continue expanding Lucinity’s platform and developing new AI capabilities for financial crime investigations.”
